M/V OKTAVIA offers scheduled scuba diving and snorkeling trips – or so called “liveaboards” – to the beautiful and fascinating Similan Islands. “Liveaboard” means that you sleep and eat on the boat – just like on a cruise. And a cruise is exactly what you get!
We offer three different cruise options, each with different length of stay on board and slightly different route. Pick the one that fits your schedule.
SCUBA DIVING AND SNORKEL CRUISES FOR EVERYONE
You do not have to be a hardcore diver to enjoy a cruise with the OKTAVIA. Our cruises cater to all. Perhaps you want to combine the fantastic diving with a couple beach runs and excursions to the beautiful islands. Perhaps you want to try scuba diving or get certified – the Similan Islands offer perfect conditions. Perhaps you want to snorkel or swim in a crystal clear water. Or perhaps you just like to spend a few days out at sea on board a big, comfortable, and very well maintained ship. And if you wonder about kids on board? No problem – the kids will love it!
WORLD CLASS SCUBA DIVING AND SNORKELING
We dive and snorkel on the best sites available in the Similan Islands. These sites are often ranked among the world’s top 10 diving and snorkeling spots. Regardless of your level of experience – expert or beginner – there are plenty of sites available.
We offer three different cruise options.
2 days/2 nights: Departure with M/V OKTAVIA, 2 days/2 nights cruise among the Similan Islands, and a return trip with speedboat. Perfect for guests with less time available, but still want to experience the Similan Islands.
3 days/2 nights: Departure with speedboat, 3 days/2 nights cruise to Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, and Richelieu Rock. Return trip with M/V OKTAVIA. Perfect for guests who want to dive and snorkel the slightly more “exotic” and “wild” sites as well.
5 days/5 nights: Departure with M/V OKTAVIA, 5 days/5 nights cruise among the Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, and Richelieu Rock. Return trip with M/V OKTAVIA. Perfect for guests who want the see and do it all.
A TYPICAL DAY ON BOARD M/V OKTAVIA
A typical day on board looks something like this: An early bird breakfast (tea/coffee and toast) is served at 06:30. This is followed at 07:30 by the first organized dive and snorkel session. We return to the boat around 08:30 for the main breakfast. Feast on fried, boiled or scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, bread, lots of fresh fruit, and more! After breakfast most people either relax on the sun deck, take a nap in their cabins, enjoy a talk with fellow guests, tag along on a beach run or an island excursion, or go for a snorkel session on their own. At around 11:30 it is time for our second organized dive and snorkel session. This is followed by lunch. Choose from 3-4 delicious Thai and Western dishes. We promise you won’t lose and weight while cruising with M/V OKTAVIA! After lunch it is once again time to work hard – continue reading in the hammock, tanning on sun deck, napping in the cabin bunk, snorkeling in the warm and clear water, or some other grueling activity. The third organized dive and snorkel session is scheduled for around 15:00. After that we serve some snacks and fresh fruits. The following couple of hours are perfect for more relaxation on board or on the beach, looking in fish guides, a swim or snorkel session on your own, or whatever else you feel up to. Just don’t miss the sunset at around 18:00 – it is extremely beautiful! Around 19:00 it is time for a night dive for the ones that still want more diving. Dinner is served at 20:00. The rest of evening we sit around talking over over a couple of cold Singha Beers, perhaps looking at someone’s digital photos from the days’ diving or snorkeling sessions, playing a game, or watching a movie on the flat screen TV. Having a wonderful time makes you tired, so most people head for their cabins and bunks at around 22:00. Some head for the sun deck to sleep under the stars. Try it – you’ll love it!
WHAT TO BRING ON BOARD
What should you bring on a cruise? We suggest at least swim wear, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen lotion, a long-sleeved shirt for the evenings, towel, toiletries, prescription medicines, diving certificate and log book, camera with extra memory card or film and batteries, and some money for beer and soft drinks. We can take care of whatever luggage you want to leave on shore.
Note! If you have any special food requests, please let us know in advance! Throughout the cruise there is always drinking water, the, coffee, toast and fresh fruits available free of charge. We sell beer and soft drinks on board. On the boat computer you can copy digital photos to a CD or a memory cards.
SAFETY ON BOARD
